I have seen this in a chart form so many times!  I just wanted to share this again!  This would be a great reminder of what God has for us and his promises! 


1. You say: "It's impossible" 
    God says: All things are possible

20 Things a Mother Should Tell Her Son

My Boys!!

Saw this on Pinterest and loved it!  It was from Amanda in Atlanta!  All of her comments are in red and mine are in black!!  

20 Things a Mother Should Tell Her Son....

1. You will set the tone for the sexual relationship, so don't take something away from her that you can't give back.
I love this.  It is so true and not a long statement but one that is powerful!

2. Play a sport.  It will teach you how to win honorably, lose gracefully, respect authority, work with others, manage your time and stay out of trouble.   And maybe even throw or catch. 
So true.  I think sports can be such a life lesson!

3. Use careful aim when you pee.  Somebody's got to clean that up, you know.
This is a lesson boys really do have a very hard time understanding!  By the way, my husband and boys refuse to do toilets.  I think that is crazy!  You don't see me peeing all over the place or shaking it!!  

4. Save money when you're young because you're going to need it some day.   
Something I never was taught and I really do want to teach my boys!!

5. Allow me to introduce you to the dishwasher, oven, washing machine, iron, vacuum, mop and broom.  Now please go use them. 
Defiantly!!  Tanner mopped today and well, he wasn't happy!  But a man that can help around the house is defiantly a catch!  

6. Pray and be a spiritual leader.
This is a blessing for a woman to find.  A man that can spiritually lead the home!!!
7. Don't ever be a bully and don't ever start a fight, but if some idiot clocks you, please defend yourself.
This is something that we try so very hard to teach the boys!  It is hard to know where the line is.  Tanner I know will stick up for his family and life long friends.  I sometimes don't think he will stick up for himself though.  This is something we keep stressing to him that being nice does not mean you have to be walked all over!

8. Your knowledge and education is something that nobody can take away from you.
Sports will only take you so far.  But your education is a valuable!  It will take you to so many places!!

9. Treat women kindly.  Forever is a long time to live alone and it's even longer to live with somebody who hates your guts.

10. Take pride in your appearance. 
We can struggle with this!  They just do things half fast but cleaning yourself up will make yourself feel good and that means your taking care of what God has given you!

11. Be strong and tender at the same time. 
This is something that will be hard but I truly believe is a must!  Sitting at H@H last week I was listening to a lady talk about how it is funny how we get on our boys for doing "boy" things.  For example...just being "aggressive!"  But that is what boys are for!  If something is happening bad we want our male to take care of it!  But at the same time we want him to have a heart and lovable!

12. A woman can do everything that you can do.  This includes her having a successful career and you changing diapers at 3 A.M.  Mutual respect is the key to a good relationship.

13. "Yes ma'am" and "yes sir" still go a long way.
Something we have really slacked on as a society.  We need to get back to the basics of respect!

14. The reason that they're called "private parts" is because they're "private".  Please do not scratch them in public.

15. Peer pressure is a scary thing.  Be a good leader and others will follow. 
Amen again!  We need to encourage our children to be leaders!!

16. Bringing her flowers for no reason is always a good idea.

17. Be patriotic.
My boys got this under control!

18. Potty humor isn't the only thing that's humorous.  
Lesson my kids will have a hard time learning!  :)

19. Please choose your spouse wisely.  My daughter-in-law will be the gatekeeper for me spending time with you and my grandchildren.
I pray for the woman that may be in my children lives!  They are alive more than likely and walking this earth .  I pray for her choices and for the paths she takes!!

I think God would like Hockey!

Ok...I don't know if he would like hockey.  It obviously doesn't have hockey in the bible.  Some say hockey is a sin.  I would have to disagree.  As long as the athletes heart and mind is in the right place and not in a sinful matter GO FOR IT!!  Play hockey!  Enjoy it!!

Anyways, hockey has been on for weeks now and the playoffs are getting pretty intense!  My boys love watching.  Skyler loves the stats/plays, Tanner the action and Kevin has the love of the game in his blood!  Then there is me, I love Hockey!  I guess that is a good thing since I met Kevin at a hockey game.

My boys and I read a book on a hockey player that now plays on Nashville.  Defender of Faith; Mike Fisher Story.

Those non hockey fans you may know him because he is married to Carrie Underwood.  

So obviously my boys like him for both reasons!  This book was great for the kids and for me! 

This book is aimed for 9-12 year olds but Skyler at age of 6 understood it! 

Mike is a Canadian hockey player (my husband actually played against him in their younger years) that has played for Ottawa and now Nashville.  He came with his struggles, he fought through injuries, a lockout, big losses, and trials.  Each one of these life  situations he learned to depend on Christ more and more!  I have the book if anyone wants to borrow it!  I do recommend reading it out loud so it starts up discussions with you and the kiddos!

Strange and Gross Things

I was cleaning up the office and I ran into a book Tanner (my oldest) has.  It is called Weird and Gross Bible Stuff!  So I started to think, " What really weird and gross stuff can I find in the bible?"  With a little reading and then researching...here is what I found out.  Be prepared!  :)  FYI...I didn't get this out of Tanner's book! 


So David sent messengers to Ish-bosheth, Saul’s son, saying,
 “Give me my wife Michal, to whom I was betrothed
 for a hundred foreskins of the Philistines.”
2 Samuel 3:14

Yeah that is gross!! He got is wife foreskins of a hundred guys he killed!  Yeah...That would be fun to open!  


"But as for you, take wheat, barley, beans, lentils, millet and spelt,
 put them in one vessel and make them into bread for yourself;
 you shall eat it according to the number of the days that you lie on your side,
 three hundred and ninety days.  Your food which you eat shall be
 twenty shekels a day by weight; you shall eat it from time to time.
 The water you drink shall be the sixth part of a hin by measure;
 you shall drink it from time to time.
 You shall eat it as a barley cake,
 having baked it in their sight over human dung.”
Ezekiel 4:9-12

So God is trying to make a point here about the people of Israel eating unclean food when they go into exile but come on he wants them to make a poop cake!  


On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread,
Paulbegan talking to them, intending to leave the next day,
 and he prolonged his message until midnight. 
 There were many lamps in the upper room where we were gathered together. 
 And there was a young man named Eutychus sitting on the window sill, 
sinking into a deep sleep; and as Paul kept on talking, 
he was overcome by sleep and fell down from the third floor and was picked up dead.  
But Paul went down and fell upon him, and after embracing him,

This isn't cool.  Paul made someone so bored with his sermon that a guy fell asleep and since he was sitting on the edge of a window, he fell out. The story ends well with Paul resurrecting the poor guy.  But man, that is not good!  


But when Herod’s birthday came, 
the daughter of Herodias danced before them and pleased Herod,  
so much that he promised with an oath to give her whatever she asked. 
 Having been prompted by her mother, she *said, 
“Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist.” 
Although he was grieved, the king commanded it to be given because of his oaths, 
and because of his dinner guests.  He sent and had John beheaded in the prison.  
And his head was brought on a platter and given to the girl, 
and she brought it to her mother.
Matthew 14:6-11

So Herold's niece dances for him at his birthday.  That in itself is kinda gross.  Anyways he likes it and so he offers her anything.  She asks for a man's dead and his head on a platter!  Really, that is what she wanted.  I was thinking she would ask for some purple material or something.  Interesting!  


Then he went up from there to Bethel; 
and as he was going up by the way, 
young lads came out from the city and mocked him and said to him, 
“Go up, you baldhead; go up, you baldhead!”  
When he looked behind him and saw them, he cursed them in the name of the LORD. 
Then two female bears came out of the woods 
and tore up forty-two lads of their number.
2 Kings 2:23-24

This one kind of makes me giggle a little.  So these kids were making fun of Elisha.  Elisha was bald and they were poking at that!  Elisha wasn't going to take that so he cursed them and two bears came and tore them up!!  Then End.  


Then Noah began farming and planted a vineyard. 
He drank of the wine and became drunk, and uncovered himself inside his tent.
 Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, 
and told his two brothers outside. 
 But Shem and Japheth took a garment and
 laid it upon both their shoulders and walked backward and 
covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were turned away, 
so that they did not see their father’s nakedness.
Genesis 9:20-23

Noah got into the wine too much and passed out.  But he didn't just pass out he passed out naked.  Thank goodness his kiddos saved him from too much embarrassment by covering him up.  


 A young man, wearing nothing but a linen garment, 
was following Jesus. When they seized him, he fled naked,
 leaving his garment behind.

What does God say about Stress??? After digging through the bible and online this is what I feel helped me!  

1. Does God show us how to reduce stress?

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
Philippians 4:8

2. Can God help if my problems seem overwhelming?

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”
Mark 10:27

3. How can I find comfort in dealing with the trouble and stress in my life?

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4

4. Can I expect my life to be more peaceful if I ask God for help?

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
Colossians 3:15

5. Is there hope even if I feel like I've reached my limit in a very serious, stressful situation?

 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

6. Why do I have to put up with so much stress in my life? Why doesn't God just take it away when I ask Him?

8. Can I have confidence that God understands my stress?
