Fun Day FRIDAY!!

Lets just have some laughs today....It is Friday!!

An atheist scientist came to God and said, "We've figured out how to make a man without you."

God said, "OK, let me see you do it."

So the atheist bent down to the ground and scooped up a handful.

But God stopped him and said, "Oh, no you don't. Get your own dirt!"

Top Ten Reasons Eve Was Created

10. God was worried that Adam would frequently become lost in the garden because he would not ask for directions.

9. God knew that one day Adam would require someone to locate and hand him the remote.

8. God knew Adam would never go out and buy himself a new fig leaf when his wore out and would therefore need Eve to buy one for him.

7. God knew Adam would never be able to make a doctor, dentist or haircut appointment for himself.

6. God knew Adam would never remember which night to put the garbage on the curb.

5. God knew if the world was to be populated, men would never be able to handle the pain and discomfort of childbearing.

4. As the Keeper of the Garden, since he didn't have metal sheds or greenhouses, Adam would never remember where he left his tools.

3. Apparently, Adam needed someone to blame his troubles on when God caught him hiding in the

2. As the Bible says, "It is not good for man to be alone!"

And the #1 reason why God created Eve:

1. When God finished the creation of Adam, He stepped back, scratched His head and said, "I can do better than that!"

Late For Class

A little girl, dresses in her "Sunday best" was late and running to her Sunday school class. As she ran, she prayed, "Dear God, please don't let me be late. Dear God, please don't let me be late."

Then she fell.  She got up, dusted her self off and saw that her dress was now dirty and had a little tear.

She started running again, still praying, "Dear God, please don't let me be late." But this time she added, "But please don't push me, either!"

This one is a thinker!  This isn't how it should be!!

Dollar Bills

There was two old dollar bills. One was a $100 dollar bill and the other was a $1 dollar bill.

The $100 dollar bill said, "I've lived a good life. I've been to the amusement park, the theater, the zoo and baseball games."

"Wow," said the $1 dollar bill. "You sure have had a good life."

"Where have you been?" asked the $100 dollar bill.

"Oh, I've been to a Baptist church, a Methodist church, a Lutheran church and an Episcopal church."

The $100 bill said, "What's a church?"

Last one for the day...I have heard this joke several times and I love each time I hear it!!

Jonah and the Whale

One day, a teacher was talking to her first grade class about whales when a little girl had a question.

Little Girl: "Do whales swallow people?"

Teacher: "No, even though they are much bigger than a person, they have throat pleats that filter their food of krill and plankton.

Little Girl: "But Mrs. Thurston says Jonah was swallowed by a whale."

Teacher getting angry: "Blue whales cannot swallow people."

Little Girl: "Well, when I get to heaven I'll just ask Jonah if he was really swallowed by a whale."

Teacher, still red with anger: "What if Jonah went to hell?"

Girl: "Well, then you can ask him."

"On your next date, think about your future mate
and apply God's Golden Rule:
Do unto your date what you would have someone do to your mate!
----June Hunt

Research and more research about this topic!  This is what I have came up with as my final answer about Christian Dating!!!  All of this information is from the web, bible and several books!  So buckle up...Here we go!!

Ok...I am laughing at my list.  This is a pretty great person that I have listed!  Now that list can help you but it can hurt you too.  Remember we are human and perfection is not something we can accomplish.  So if the other person does not demonstrate all 25 or things on you "list" then don't automatically give them the boot.  Are expectations need to be striving for a closer relationship with God!  Does this person hurt or help you with that!?

Developing a Godly dating foundation.

1. Be wise
      Ask God for...
          guard your heart
          help in decision making
          to confirm our choices

2. Be real
You want to get to know the other person and as they want to get to know you.  BE REAL!

3. Be honest
Don't go along with whatever just because.
Don't cave into peer pressure.  Respectfully say NO!

4. Set yourself up for success
This is where the "guidelines" and "the list" comes in!!

Dating eeeks

1. Do not focus on ROMANCE!
Focus on developing a solid friendship
Skipping the friendship stage is not wise
Be devoted to one another in love.
Honor one another above yourselves.
Romans 12:10

2. Don't confuse lust for love.
     Remember your Christian Values
It is God's will that you should be sanctified:
that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should
learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable,
 not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God;
1 Thessalonians 4:3-5

3. Don't date non-Christians
Trust that God has a plan for you life
God needs to be center of the relationship
But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness,
and all these things will be given to you as well.
Matthew 6:33

4. Don't wait to determine your standards
Start off with being a good and honorable date.

For we are taking pains to what is right,
not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of man.
1 Corinthians 8:21

5. Don't look for someone to make you "WHOLE"
You are one with God.  You need to be complete before you meet someone.
God can only bring pure joy and happiness.

"...your faith has made you whole."
Luke 17:19b

6. Do not allow dating to isolate you from others
     Other relationships are very important

You, my brothers and sisters, were call to be free.
But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh;
rather, serve one another humbly in love.
Galatians 5:13

7. Do not settle for the first available

You need to persevere so that when you
have done the will of God,
you will receive what he has promised.
Hebrews 10:36

8. Don't be fooled by outside

But the Lord said to Samuel,
"Do not consider his appearance or his height,
for I have rejected him.
People look at the outward appearance,
but the Lord looks at the heart."
1 Samuel 16:7

June Hunt wrote this guidelines to maintain purity over passion and I LOVE IT!!!

Prioritize God's standard of purity in your dating.
     Make a commitment to God
     Pray daily about the commitment

Marriage should be honored by all,
and the marriage bed kept pure,
for God will judge the adulterer
and all sexually immoral.
Hebrews 13:4

Undertake personal accountability for how you treat your dates body.
Avoid sexual kissing before marriage...sexual foreplay
Do not touch your dates body that wouldn't be covered in a full swim suite

In this matter no one should wrong his brother
or take advantage of him.  The Lord will punish men for
all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you.
1 Thessalonians 4:6

Refrain from activities that violate God's standard by arousing sexual desires.
If these are violated then repent, ask for forgives and recommit
Do not use language that could arouse sexual desire--even joking
Get an accountability partner to help you from slipping

It is God's will that you should be sanctified:
that you should avoid sexual immorality;
that each of you should learn to control his own
body in a way that is holy and honorable.
1 Thessalonians 4:3-4

Implement goals that are pleasing to God.
      Study the scripture together
      Do service projects together--help others
Commit to each other to maintain a balanced life

We make it our goal to please him...
For we must appear before the judgment seat of Christ,
that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body,
whether good or bad.
2 Corinthians 5:9-10

Trust  God's timing
Remember Gods timing is different than others
Allow God to handle hurt and disappointments
Do not consider dating as a waiting game.

With the Lord a day is like a thousand years,
and a thousand years are like a day
2 Peter 3:8

Yield your life to the Lord
Surrender your expectations, emotions and will to God.
Do not let your biological clock block out the voice of the Holy Spirit
      Memorize and meditate on scripture
      Give up your demands

Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness,
and all these things will be given to you as well
Matthew 6:33

Decision Making- Will of God

God plays no game of hide and seek---
the closer you draw to the heart of God,
the clearer you’ll know the will of God.
He reveals His will day by day…
He unrolls the scroll one line at a time.
---June Hunt

James 1:22 says
“DO NOT merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.
Do what it says!”

God’s Will

v  God’s will has already been prepared for you!

 “We are God’s workmanship,

created in Christ Jesus to do good works,

which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Ephesians 2:10

v  We can know God’s will for our lives!

“The god of our fathers has chosen you to know his will.”

Acts 22:14

v  He will reveal His will…it will be revealed through the Spirit of God and the Word of God!!

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything,

by prayer and petition,

with thanksgiving, present your request to God.
And in peace of God which transcends all understanding,
will guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7

What decisions can I make that are going to make God happy!!??

v  He initiates it

“I instruct you in the way of wisdom

and lead you along straight paths.

Proverbs 4:11

v  It lines up with His words

“Teach me, Lord, the way of your decrees,

that I may follow it to the end.”

Psalm 119:33

v  His purpose is accomplished

“for it is God who works in you to will

and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose”

Philippians 2:13

v  We have to depend on His strength

“I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”

Philippians 4:13

v  End result is giving Him Glory

”So whether you eat or drink or

whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”

1 Corinthians 10:31

v  Promotes kindness, justice and humanity

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy and

to walk humbly with your God.”

Micah 6:8

v  Reflects His character

“For those God foreknew he also predestined to

be conformed to the image of his Son,

that he might be the first born among many brothers and sisters.”
 Romans 8:29

v  Faith

“An without faith it is impossible to please God,

because anyone who comes to him must believe

that he exists and he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
Hebrew 11:6

v  Consider others interest

“not looking to your own interests

but each of you to the interest of the others.”

Philippians 2:4

v  Prayer and more Prayer

“pray continually”

1 Thessalonians 5:17

So how is He going to give us GUIDANCE?  I found an amazing way to look at this question.  June Hunt showed it this way.

G- Gifts
Ø  Use your spiritual gifts, talents and abilities
Ø  Reflect on what brings you real joy
 Ø  Reflect on your weaknesses
 Ø  Write down your accomplishments
Ø  Ask a friend to assess your strengths.

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others,

as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

1 Peter 4:10

Ø  Look at the whole decision and what it all involved. Clearly determine the situation.
 Ø  Know the facts
Ø  Do you know the consequences?
Ø  Is there a deadline to which you need to have your decision made by?

“Folly brings joy to one who has no sense,

but whoever has understanding keeps a straight course.”

Proverbs 15:21

Ø  The Spirit of God often brings passion or establishes truth in your heart.
Ø  Pray for God to speak to you and confirm your notion through another resource.
Ø  Consider a time of fasting---only if you are led to do so.
Ø  Spend time with God.  Seek His Heart!!

 “I will praise the Lord, who counsels me;

even at night my heart instructs me.”

Psalm 16:7

Ø  When we want to please God in all areas of our lives then our desires become more like God’s desires!
 Ø  Study God’s WORD!!
Ø  Pray that you can see your sin as God sees it and then pray that you learn to hate your sin as He hates it.
Ø  Remember He promises strength where we are weak!

“Take delight in the Lord,

and he will give you the desires of your heart.”

Psalm 37:4

Ø   God often speaks through other people.  Make sure they are…
ü  In the Word of God
ü  Mature in godly wisdom
ü  Living a life with God
ü  Been through similar situations

“Listen to advice and accept discipline,

and at the end you will be counted among the wise.”

Proverbs 19:20

Ø  Evaluate your responsibilities as a child of God.  Such as…
ü  Choice that may keep you away from your kids for long periods of time
ü  Moving away from a elderly parent that needs you

“If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do

and doesn't do it, it is sin for them.”

 James 4:17

Ø  Remember not all doors are opened by God!!  Closed doors may help though with decision making!
Ø  Consider the obvious situations and realize they may not be the final answer
Ø  Look past the present circumstances and see what God wants to accomplish
Ø  Ask God to open doors or close doors according to His will.  We need Him to guide us through those doors!!

“In their hearts humans plan their course,

but the Lord establishes their steps.”

Proverbs 16:9

Ø  Not all options are best for us.  Eliminate one by one.  Think through it.  Examples…
ü  Places you are in tempting situations
ü  Would not be the best use of my time
ü  Require skills I do not have
ü  Sinful behavior may be shown

“’I have the right to do anything’ you say but not everything is beneficial.

‘I have the right to do anything’—but not everything is constructive.”

1 Corinthians 10:23

Then June goes onto giving us a little test we can go through.

Scriptural Test
Ø  Has God already spoken about it in His word?

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for
teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness”

2 Timothy 3:16

     Secrecy Test
S                 Ø  Would it bother me if everyone knew this was my choice?

“The integrity of the upright guides them,

but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.”

Proverbs 11:3

     Survey Test
Ø  What if everyone followed my example?

“Set an example for the believers in speech in life,

in love, in faith and in purity”

1 Timothy 4:12

     Spiritual Test
Ø  Am I being people pressured or Spirit-

“Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God?

Or am I trying to please men?

If I were trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
Galatians 1:10

Stumbling Test
Ø  Could this cause another person to stumble?

“It is better not to eat meat or drink wine

or to do anything else that will cause your brother to fall.”

Romans 14:21

     Serenity Test
Ø  Have I prayed and received peace about this decision?

Philippians 4:6-7

     Sanctification Test
Ø  Will this keep me from growing in the character of Christ?

“We…are being transformed into his likeness

with every increasing glory”

2 Corinthians 3:18

If all of this is still not enough PRAY PRAY PRAY!!
